METRO House of Training

METRO is the world's leading cash & carry wholesaler. To develop corporate culture and strengthen METRO Cash & Carry image, METRO has established an international training network – The House of Training, which has four campuses located in Germany, France, China and Russia. These provide a training service for METRO`s global cash & carry business.
The three categories of our program are Start Training, Build Training and Grow Training. These provide abundant theory and practice for Buyers, Store Managers, Floor Managers, Heads of Departments and Customer Consultants. In keeping with METRO's global expansion, the House of Training Shanghai Campus will, in the future, cover other Asian countries, such as Japan, India and Vietnam.
We established METRO's first global "Training Kitchen" in Shanghai. This links professional customers, METRO staff and suppliers together through its various trainings.

METRO Training Kitchen and Its Mission

The METRO Training Kitchen located on 1st Floor, New HQ Building, No.1425 Zhenbei Road, Putuo District, Shanghai, opened on 1st Aug, 2004. It has a total area of 145 m2, capacity 30 trainees per session.
To raise the level of service to professionals by increasing the product knowledge of METRO
staff.

Training Kitchen Main Staff

Mr. Paulo Chen
Training Kitchen Manager
A qualified chef, specializing in Western Cuisine, trained at "Napa Valley" in America. He has 16 years experience in western food preparation and has worked for several 5-star hotels and western restaurants as Executive Chef. He has specialized in French, Italian and American cuisine and is able to deliver training in both English and Mandarin.
His assistant, Mr. Chen Jiangjiang, who is a qualified chef, specializing in Chinese Cuisine, with 7 years experience. He has worked in METRO for 8 years and is responsible for developing training material and assisting him during training sessions.

Training Kitchen Facilities

It is a professional kitchen equipped with: Grill, Induction plate (three Western type, one
Chinese type), Deep Fryer, Salamander, Combi, Steamer, Blast Freezer.
The training kitchen is also equipped with a professional audio and video system, including:
Beamer, Auto projector screen, Audio system with 19 speakers, 3 high speed cameras.
This ensures that every trainee can view the cooking process at different angles and hear the
Trainer's explanation clearly.
