Timo Boll learned with great dismay of the earthquake tragedy in Sichuan this month. He is very touched by the suffering of the people there, having visited the area before. He expresses his sympathy to all directly affected and also to the entire nation.

The German men’s achieved a good 7th place during the recently held World Team Championship in Guangzhou.

Germany arrived already without the injured Timo Boll, and during the tournament, Christian Suess and Bastian Steger injured themselves and where not in the position to play the final games.

The team improved there performance versus the last WM in Bremen by 2 ranks, and the National Coach Mr. Bitzigeio was very pleased with the overall team spirit and performance in Guangzhou. During the whole tournament, the team won 6 games and only lost 2, which was a very good performance and a motivation for the upcoming Olympics’.

METRO demonstrated how to cook nutritionally beneficial dishes for Olympic athletes in its Beijing Wanquanhe Store. The Metro-sponsored German table tennis superstar Timo Boll, together with the chef of Metro China cooked the Chinese and Western style dishes which became the highlight of the event.
